Space Day 2018 Breaks Attendance Record

The EAA Aviation Museum is proud to have set a new record attendance figure for the annual Space Day celebration. The 2018 Space Day festivities brought more than a thousand people through the doors to take part in the many space-themed activities and programming. The fun for all ages included full-scale replicas of the Mercury and Gemini spacecraft as well as some hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities. The day concluded with a speech from 17-year-old Alyssa Carson, who is working to become an astronaut and take part in a Mars mission. The keynote speaker for the evening was Apollo 15 astronaut Al Worden. Worden was the command module pilot on the 1971 mission to the moon. After their presentations, Alyssa and Worden answered questions from the crowd where fans of all ages were able to interact with the speakers. Between the terrific guest speakers, activities, and programming, guests had a blast during Space Day 2018.
