EAA Chapter 36 Flies 7,000th Young Eagle

EAA Chapter 36 in Hagerstown, Maryland, recently reached a momentous milestone, flying its 7,000th Young Eagle during a Young Eagles rally on Saturday, May 14! To celebrate, Chapter 36 provided cake to all those that came to the rally and supported the accomplishment.

Prior to the event starting, there were 76 pre-registered kids scheduled to take a Young Eagles flight that day. The chapter’s Young Eagles coordinator, Curtis Berry, EAA 1021592, CFII, gave a group of kids a walk-around pre-flight. During a Young Eagles flight, youths engage in a pre-flight briefing, the flight itself, and a post-flight briefing.

The Young Eagles program could not happen without volunteer pilots and volunteer ground crew who put in countless hours and resources into providing these experiences for kids.

Be sure to mark your calendars for June 11 for International Young Eagles Day, as well as July 25-31, when we’ll be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Young Eagles program at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022.

Congrats again to Chapter 36 on this tremendous accomplishment!
