Chapter 952 Presents 2 Scholarships to Local Young Aviators

Aleana Cricks and Wylie Howe were both presented flight training scholarships from EAA Chapter 952 in Cottonwood, Arizona, to help them earn their pilot certificates and become immersed in aviation.

Aleana, who is heading into her junior year of high school, received the first EAA Chapter 952 flight scholarship. As part of her scholarship, Aleana will take a free flight each month from one of the chapter’s pilots so that she can experience a wide variety of airplanes and a different pilot each month. In addition, she will get a free introductory flight lesson from a certified flight instructor from Leighnor Aircraft, as well as some aviation necessities such as a logbook, kneeboard, and  a local sectional chart.

Wylie received a full scholarship opportunity for flight training as part of the Ray Aviation Scholarship program administered by EAA and made possible by the generosity of the Ray Foundation. He recently graduated from high school and plans to attend Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona, to major in aviation. The scholarship will allow Wylie to get his private pilot certificate before he starts his college aviation program to earn his commercial.

EAA Chapter 952 members meet at the Cottonwood Airport, Building O, on the first Tuesday of each month. More information on the chapter is available at
